CPM-400, Clinical Practical

This class, CPM 400, requiring a total of 60 hours, is the fourth of 4 Clinic Practicum Classes to equal a total of 246 hours of hands on practice in clinical settings. 6 hours per week is required. The 246 hours is time that is required of all students. It must be done outside of the time spent in any other class. Students accumulate these hours by receiving and working on fellow classmates and subjects in the Student Clinic in the basement of the Academy and at the applicable time, work on public clientele at the Natural Therapy Health Center (NTHC). A student may not count more than 30 of the 60 massages as “receiving.” Students must complete 20 hours at NTHC and a case study on one client during CPM-400.

Students must report all hours to the Mentor who shall record them. The practical hours are graded as any other course at the Academy and students must keep up on their hour requirements in order to successfully pass the course. For every 1 hour massage given, 1.5 hours can be counted toward their Practical Clinical Hours to account for greeting the client and doing the required soap notes as well as the massage.

Sometime during this class, a Mentor Massage Evaluation must be scheduled with a Mentor to make sure a student is meeting the objectives of this class. All practical hours are to be done in these approved sites (Student Subject Center and NTHC) and supervised by the Clinic Mentor. Time schedules must be turned in by the first of each month. Students are expected to keep track and be present for any and all times they schedule themselves available for. Additional options to meet your hours in the NTHC, may include handing out business cards, sending out postcards, filling, and making calls.
