Structural Muscular Balancing
Designed by nationally known massage text author and teacher Mark beck, Structural Muscular Balancing (SMB) is a non-invasive method of gently moving the body away from pain, improving neuromuscular communication in the body, re-balancing the energy flow in the tissues, and releasing tension that limits body range of motion. Structural Muscular Balancing uses a variety of techniques to address the physical, neuromuscular, and energetic aspects of an individual’s dysfunctional patterns. The feedback from precision muscle testing is used to evaluate where imbalances exist in the musculature and what corrective techniques are most appropriate to facilitate re-balancing of the area. The three corrective techniques most often used in Structural Muscular Balancing are position release, directional massage, and deep pressure. The aim of SMB is to release tension in the structural muscles and reset the neuromuscular reflexes that perpetuate tension, spasms and the associated pain. This class is approved by the National Certification Board for 22 CEU’s. Mark has personally trained the instructor of this class, Diana Thomas, and he will be visiting during the length of the course.
